REVENUE MODEL

How KasiLink SA plans to earn revenue

A digital marketplace needs a sustainable way to cover its costs while staying affordable for local plumbers and customers.

Revenue streams

KasiLink SA combines a small booking fee with optional paid features for plumbers.

Booking Fee

A small service fee is added per confirmed booking made through the platform, similar to how the KasiLink SA booking API calculates cost per booking.

Featured Listings

Plumbers can pay to have their profile appear higher in search results and on the home page, increasing their visibility to customers.

Verified Profile Badge

An optional paid verification badge for plumbers who submit proof of qualifications, building extra trust with customers.

Cost structure

Every booking carries a R50 platform booking fee, calculated the same way as the live KasiLink SA booking API.

Booking Fee

A R50 booking fee is added to every confirmed booking, covering hosting, payment processing and support.

Tax

15% VAT is charged on the R50 booking fee only (R7.50), so the customer pays R57.50 for the fee. VAT is added to the quotation total.

Break-Even Thinking

The calculator below shows how the booking fee income scales as booking volume grows.

Revenue calculator

Pick a service and number of bookings to see the projected revenue, cost and profit. This uses the same figures as the KasiLink SA API (services/prices from za.co.kasilink.KasiLink, R50 booking fee per booking). A loss is shown as a negative number. Fixed costs are R3,500 a month and each booking costs R8 to process.

Projected outcome (KasiLink SA's own booking-fee revenue)

Revenue (booking fees) R 0
Platform cost R 0
Profit R 0
Break-even volume (q* = F / (p - cv)) -
Example customer quote (1 booking, selected service) R 0
